Mr. Alex Szeto - Sous Chef, Island Seafood Restaurant

 

Hi, I am Alex Szeto Chi Hang. I started my course at the HITDC about ten years ago when I was nineteen. During my one year Western Food Preparation course, I learnt most of the basic skills and knowledge required to work in this field. I joined the Peninsula Hotel in 1994 and worked there for three years. Then, I joined the King Parrot Group where I am still working as a sous chef at the Island Seafood Restaurant.

Apart from working, I have also participated in the Culinary Competitions held by Hofex. In 2001, I won the silver medal in Practical Hot Cooking and this year, I won the gold metal.

If I had not attended the course at the HITDC, I would never have had the chance to find such a smooth career path. I would like to thank Mr. Tong my main instructor and the other course instructors for their kind tuition and patience with a new student like me at that time. The basic knowledge and techniques were very valuable for my future and also gradually built-up my confidence as I progressed through the course.
