My name is Aniki and I would like to take this
opportunity to share some of my remarkable memories with you during
my studies at HITDC.
Having finished the Food and Beverage Service Course in 1998 at
HITDC, I joined the Royal Garden Hotel as a junior waitress at the
Balcony Lounge. During my first three years in the Food and Beverage
Department, I did a lot of cross training within the Royal Garden
Hotel and, definitely I acquired a lot of technical knowledge prior
to my promotion to Lounge Captain in 2002.
With an intense interest for working in the hospitality industry, I
further developed myself to work in an up market free standing
restaurant in town, where I was able to expose myself to more
knowledge about how to run a restaurant business.
In 2003, I re-joined the Royal Garden Hotel as a Senior Captain.
Though I have been working in this industry for five years, I
strongly believe that the technical skills and knowledge that I
learnt at the HITDC in 1998, were really useful and invaluable and,
it gave me a solid background for my advancement in my chosen
career.
I have always remembered these words from our instructors,
"Customers are always our first concern" and "We always have to be
very positive when receiving instructions from our superiors even
though you might not accept them".
All in all, I totally believe that a sincere manner and hardworking
attitude are the basic criteria to becoming successful in the
hospitality industry.
May I wish you all a prosperous future in your chosen career.
