I'm Helen Lui. I graduated from the Front Office
and Housekeeping Operations Program at the HITDC in 1994. After I
completed the program, the school referred me to Renaissance Harbour
View Hotel (it was previously called New World Harbour View Hotel)
to work as a room attendant. After six year, I was promoted to
Housekeeping Clerk. The past seven years has, part of it was
bittersweet, but mainly it was full of colours.
After working for the hotel for seven years, I felt there was a need
for change. As the saying goes: "A fish would not turn fat if it
doesn't jump to another pond". I switched work to Prudential Hotel
and worked as a Floor Supervisor in the Housekeeping department. It
was a new challenge for me to take this new job, as it was
completely different from my previous job as a Room Attendant; the
pay was also better. I'd like to thank all the instructors here for
their attentive care and teaching. I'd also like to thank all of my
previous co-workers and wish all a better future.
My younger sisters and brothers, overcome the apparent hardship to
reach your goal, you will be rewarded in the end. I still remember
there was a reporter of a women magazine who had interviewed me
once, I told her that just work hard to towards your goal and you
will be rewarded.
This wraps up the special personal experience that I wanted to share
with you. Remember: You will be what you think you will be.
