In November 1985, Hotel Industry Training Centre
HOTC (now Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre
HITDC) had just introduced their second 2-month Food and Beverage
course. I thought it could be interesting so I applied for the
course. This eventually marked the starting point of my career in
the hospitality industry. Upon completion of this 2-month course, I
was accepted by the Peninsula as a trainee in the Food and Beverage
department.
At the beginning of 1999, I rose to the position of the manager of
the Spring Moon Chinese Restaurant and nine months later, I was
promoted to the position of Assistant Food and Beverage Manager of
the Peninsula Hotel. In the summer of 2001, I spent one week at the
Peninsula New York as part their exchange training programme. I
stayed on a further 6 weeks in Chicago with their pre-opening
business development.
Very recent year, I was promoted again. I am now the Director of
Food and Beverage of the Peninsula Hotel.
I do believe and it is a fact that no matter how much or how little
formal education you have, so long as you work hard, you will
succeed. After all, I am a HITDC graduate, and I think I have made
it; so can you.
