Mr. Wong Bun - Manager of a reputable restaurant in Suzhou

I was a graduate from a one year Chinese cooking course from the Hotel Industry Training Centre, which is now Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre, and I see the course a key to nurture my success in the industry.

After graduation, I worked as an apprentice assistant chef in Grand Hyatt Hotel for one year. I could fully apply practical skills that I have learnt from the course to my job.

After I worked at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Within the 10 years I worked at the Jockey Club, I had the chance to take up different positions in the kitchen. It has widened my horizon and further strengthened my skills.

I am a hard working person, I am always willing to learn from the other Chefs.

In 2004, I was invited to join a very reputable restaurant in Suzhou –Abalone, Shark-Fin & Bird’s Nest and being one of the partners and managers of the restaurant; I am responsible for the daily operations of the restaurant and have to take care of more than 80 staff. From a junior position to top management, I have realized the importance of ethics, skills and management of the back of the house. Within one year, our restaurant has already attracted and served a number of notables and high officials.

To recall the experiences I have undergone these 10 years, it is certain that I made the right decision to join the Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre. I owe special thanks to the training centre and the instructors who gave me the chance to learn from them, this has led to my achievement.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage my fellow trainees to grasp every chance to learn, be determined and confident, I am sure you will have a bright future.
